Since it’s inexpensive to purchase, many think it’s the smartest move, but these systems are very expensive to operate and can make your money go to waste long term. They heat water directly with electricity, wasting energy in the process. 

But what if I tell you that the Victorian Government is offering Electric Hot Water Replacement rebates as part of its sustainability initiatives?  Through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, you can upgrade your old inefficient hot water system and get a brand new one with discounts. 

  • Replace your inefficient old electric hot water system with a heat pump and get a discount of around $630.
  • Replace it with a solar-boosted hot water system and receive a discount of around $910.

Key conditions:

  • Property must be at least 2 years old.
  • You must install an approved product from the official VEU register.
  • Heavily subsidised. Minimum customer co-payment is $200 incl. GST
